i’d call myself A CLIMBING GENERALIST
More than anything, I thrive on the feeling of being competent in the mountains. And being skilled in all arenas of climbing has enabled me to climb difficult and remote mountains all over the world, but also never find myself bored. I can find a project in just about any arena of climbing, be it sport climbing, bouldering, crack climbing, ice climbing, or alpine climbing.
I guess I need to provide the hard evidence to back up my claims? I’ve sent 5.13 sport climbs, 5.13 traditional climbs, V10 boulders, Grade 5 ice climbs, and ED2 alpine climbs. What I am not, is an aid climber, though I can French-free with the best of them.
I like my home mountain range, the Coast Mountains, the best. Every time I return to the coast mountains after being abroad, I feel a familiar sense of homecoming. It’s a place I know deeply and exploring the ranges nooks and crannies brings me immense joy. Beyond my home mountains, Argentinian Patagonia is the place I’ve spent most of my climbing career. Though travelling there is less realistic now that I am a home-owing working-professional, it is still a place I am deeply in love with.
The selection
Below is a selection of some of the things I’ve worked hardest for and am most proud of. They’re certainly not bleeding edge in any one category of climbing, but what sets me apart is the ability to perform at a high standard in a wide variety of climbings disciplines. Like I said before, it’s all just a means to an end: being successful in the mountains.
